EPISODE 12 — It’s nearly the end of our first full season, and we have another FIRST for the show. For the first time ever on Northwest Liquor Night, we have a couple of Northwest-made Rums to taste! This is a tough category to fill, but we found a couple of local rums and the panelists had a great time drinking them as straight shots first, then as part of a cocktail (can you guess which cocktail we tried before watching the show?)

HERE’S WHAT WE TASTED:

Pacific Rum – Bull Run Distilling, Portland OR
Deco Gold Rum – Deco Distilling, Portland OR

PANELISTS: Host Brian Calvert is joined by Jeremy Grater of Northwest Beer Night and “The Sibling Rivalry Podcast,” Hanna Brooks-Olsen of Star 101.5 in Seattle, Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News, and John Slagle, who’s the spirits manager at Wine World & Spirits.

FILMING LOCATION: We brought the show to the place where you can find almost every distilled spirits made in the Northwest. And if Wine World and Spirits doesn’t have what you’re looking for, David and his crew will find it for you. Wine World and Spirits is located in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood just off I-5.

THANKS FOR WATCHING! And please share this episode with your friends. The next new episode of Northwest Liquor Night premieres right here on our website Friday, May 31st.

You enjoying watching Northwest Liquor Night in part, because we get right to the point and help you find local spirits made by local distillers.

Now, we want to present more information on the industry and the people who are part of it.

On a regular basis, we plan on releasing new episodes of “The Lounge Podcast.” These will be quick, 5 minute interviews with distillers and others in the industry who offer more information. As part of “The Lounge” you’ll also hear from wine makers and the craft brewers of the region.

The point is to give you more in-depth information, as we all support our local industry.

The first podcast will be posted July 1st here on the website.

It just might be the most produced spirit in the Pacific Northwest! There’s no shortage of good Vodka here in our area, and we have two more of them to taste in this episode.

We’ll taste two delicious vodkas first as a straight shot. Then with the same liquor, we’ll taste it mixed as a cocktail…giving you two different perspectives. In Episode 10, we’re tasting:

Vodka - Walla Walla Distilling Co, Walla Walla WA

Vodka - Soft Tail Spirits, Woodinville WA

You’re one-up on the panelists: All they know is that they’re vodkas. They won’t know the names or brands until after they’ve talked about them and picked a favorite as a straight-shot and a favorite as a cocktail.

In Episode 10, host Brian Calvert is joined by panelists Marina Rockinger of Star 101.5, Seth Wayne and Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News, and Nick Eaton from the SeattlePI.com.

We filmed this episode inside Captive Spirits in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. This is a small distiller that specializes in gin, and it was really great to meet the crew. And Holly, the food was outstanding!

Thanks for watching Northwest Liquor Night and for sharing the show with your friends. New episodes are released here on the website every other Friday at 11am: Our next new episode premieres Friday, May 17th.

This is a great way to expose your restaurant, bar, lounge, or distillery.

We do have a few production requirements, including the need for a space large enough for our set and equipment. We film four episodes over the span of about 3.5 hours. Here’s the gist of what we need from you:

- Provide a well-lit, private area large enough for our set and equipment

- Provide glasses. We need a total of 32 shot size and 32 buckets.

- Provide appetizers for our panelists & crew (12 people total)

- Provide a server who is licensed to pour the liquor we supply for the taping.

What you get in return:

- Mentioned in the opening of each of the 4 episodes

- A 30 second “spotlight” in the middle of each episode, where we talk about you and show video of your establishment.

- A 200×200 rotating digital ad space the remains on our website for about 2 months (while your episodes are being featured.

There is a fee of $300 to have us film at your place, but remember, you’re being exposed over the course of 4 episodes, or two months. It’s a very effective way to spend a little bit of marketing money.

Contact Us now to book a filming date.

IN-SHOW ADVERTISING

You can be seen as part of a Northwest Liquor Night episode. We can do this for you in a few different ways:

1. Purchase a 15 second commercial. This is placed at the beginning or in the middle of an episode, and is long enough to get the word out, yet short enough most viewers won’t fast-forward through it. You can supply the 15 second video, or we can produce one for you (small fee required for production).

2. Have your website’s address featured on-screen. This is a unique way to get people directly to your front door online! For a small fee, we place your web address in the bottom corner of the screen for about 8 seconds twice during the episode. When viewers see it, they can click on it right there, and be directed straight to you.

3. Have your product used/placed on an episode. Do you make something no liquor drinker should be without? Here’s a chance to have your product featured on the set, and briefly talked about. It could even be something we actually use during the show (glasses, food products).

Contact Us for rate information.

WEBSITE ADVERTISING

Thousands of fans come to the website weekly to watch our show and connect with our website. Now you can associated your brand with the site, and we can send our fans to you! Here’s how you can advertise on our site:

1. Large banner ad space at the top of the website. This is a standard rectangle “website banner ad” and is the most sought after real estate online. Everyone who comes to our website is exposed to it instantly. This is non-rotating, so buy the space for 45 days, and your ad is always there. For exact dimensions and rates, Contact Us and ask for our “New Client Kit.”

2. 200×200 digital ad spaces. These are the large squares you see on the right side of the site. You can purchase one of these rotating spaces for 45 days, and the rate is 50% off if you’re a spirits maker supplying product for the show. For current rates, Contact Us

Northwest Liquor Night wants to taste your distilled spirits!

And we’re not a “pay-for-play” operation; we’ll taste and talk about your product at no charge. We do this as a service to our viewers and to fulfill our show’s mission: The straight-shot on the Northwest’s Best Spirits. We’re all about introducing locally-made products to the people of the Pacific Northwest, because we want them to “Drink Local!” It’s good for all of us to get behind and support local business.

So here’s what you do:

1. Send us two fifths of your product. You can ship this to an address we provide, or drop it off at our next filming location.

2. With your product, send us a paragraph on what’s in it, how it’s made. This is great background for our host and panel.

And that’s it!

As an option, because you’re supplying product for the show, you may purchase ad space on our website at 50% of the regular rate. That means you can be featured on our website for 45 days for as little as $75. Again, this is completely optional, but it’s a great way for our viewers to find you after they see your product on the show. Your ad is linked to your website, so we deliver them right to your front door!

To book a space, or for more information, Contact Us

We’ll taste two delicious Canadian Whiskeys first as a straight shot. Then with the same liquor, we’ll taste it mixed as a cocktail…giving you two different perspectives. In Episode 9, we’re tasting:

Pendelton Canadian Whiskey - Hood River Distillers, Hood River OR

Snake River Stampede - Indio Spirits, Cottage Grove OR

You’re one-up on the panelists: All they know is that they’re whiskey. They won’t know the names or brands until after they’ve talked about them and picked a favorite as a straight-shot and a favorite as a cocktail.

In Episode 9, host Brian Calvert is joined by panelists Marina Rockinger of Star 101.5, Corwin Haeck from KOMO Newsradio, Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News, and Ben Capdevielle of Captive Spirits. It was great having Ben with us to take on all our questions about Canadian Whiskey!

Speaking of Ben…we filmed this episode at Ben’s place: inside Captive Spirits in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. This is a small distiller that specializes in gin, and it was really great to meet the crew. And Holly, the food was outstanding!

You’re one-up on the panelists: All they know is that they’re liqueurs. They won’t know the names or brands until after they’ve talked about them and picked a favorite as a straight-shot and a favorite as a cocktail.

In Episode 8, host Brian Calvert is joined by panelists Marina Rockinger of Star 101.5, Seth Wayne and Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News, and Nick Eaton from the SeattlePI.com.
