Season 1 Epsiode 11

It just might be the most produced spirit in the Pacific Northwest!  There’s no shortage of good Vodka here in our area, and we have two more of them to taste in this episode.

We’ll taste two delicious vodkas first as a straight shot.  Then with the same liquor, we’ll taste it mixed as a cocktail…giving you two different perspectives.  In Episode 10, we’re tasting:

Vodka - Walla Walla Distilling Co, Walla Walla WA

Vodka - Soft Tail Spirits, Woodinville WA

You’re one-up on the panelists:  All they know is that they’re vodkas.  They won’t know the names or brands until after they’ve talked about them and picked a favorite as a straight-shot and a favorite as a cocktail.

In Episode 10, host Brian Calvert is joined by panelists Marina Rockinger of Star 101.5, Seth Wayne and Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News, and Nick Eaton from the SeattlePI.com.

We filmed this episode inside Captive Spirits in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.  This is a small distiller that specializes in gin, and it was really great to meet the crew.  And Holly, the food was outstanding!

Season 1 Episode 6

We’re back with more delicious Vodka made in the Pacific Northwest!  And this time around, we ended up with a good one from Oregon, and a good one from Washington. We’ll taste it first as a straight shot, then with the same liquor, we’ll taste it mixed as a cocktail…giving you two different perspectives.  In Episode 6, we’re tasting:

Portland 88 Vodka – New Deal Distillery, Portland OR

Rain City Vodka - Rain City Spirits, Seattle WA

You’re one-up on the panelists:  All they know is that they’re vodka.  They wont know the names or brands until after they’ve talked about them and picked a favorite as a straight-shot and a favorite as a cocktail.

In Episode 6, host Brian Calvert is joined by panelists Corine McKenzie and Curt Kruse of Star 101.5 afternoons, Nick Eaton of SeattlePI.com, and the lovely Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News.

We filmed this episode inside Sport Restaurant and Bar, which is in downtown Seattle across the street from the Space Needle.  This is the first time we’ve had a “live” audience…and you’ll hear them in the background.

Season 1 Episode 1

We’re back with our first full season, offering the straight shot on the northwest’s best spirits!  We had such an awesome response to our first four pilot episodes that we’re presenting a full season, introducing you to some of the finest spirits made in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and northern California.

In Episode 1, we tasted three different northwest-made Vodkas.  The products came from:

Sound Spirits
2bar Spirits
Ransom Spirits

You’re one-up on our panelists.  After all, they have know idea who made these vodkas until after they pick a favorite.

Host Brian Calvert is joined by Kristin Ackerman, publisher of SIP Northwest Magazine, Denise Whitaker of KOMO 4 News, Jeremy Grater of Northwest Beer Night and The Sibling Rivalry Podcast, and Jane Shannon of KOMO Newsradio.  This episode was taped at Local 360, a very cool restaurant in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood that is a huge supporter of local distillers, vintners, and craft brewers.

Pilot Episode 2

On the heels of a very successful launch (Our first episode was viewed over 26,000 times in it’s first 10 days!) we’re back with another episode spotlighting local liquor. For Episode 2, we return to Washington’s first legal distillery to taste some great Vodka!

Just in time to herald privatization of liquor sales in Washington, we present Northwest Liquor Night. Watch new episodes every other week, as we introduce you to the distilled spirits being created in not only Washington, but Idaho, Oregon, and northern California as well. Much like it’s sibling projects, each episode of Northwest Liquor Night will introduce you to locally made adult beverages. Our panelists will taste each product, talk about it, then recommend their favorite.

We are once again at Dry Fly Distilling in Spokane for Episode 2. Host Brian Calvert is joined by Marina Rockinger of Northwest Wine Night, Pia Hallenberg of the Spokesman Review, KXLY’s Dennis Patchin, and former TV newscaster Lucinda Kay.
